WHAT TO BRING TO COMP

WHAT NEEDS TO BROUGHT TO COMPETITION AND HOW IT WORKS

 

I.                   DANCE INSPIRATIONS apparel – please wear what you have to comp.

A.    Warm-up suit

B.     Sweatshirts

C.     T-shirts

D.    Etc.

II.                Costumes

A.    All costumes should be brought to competition in a garment bag and put on in dressing rooms

B.     Tights

1.      All tights are Capezio Hold and Stretch – cost not included in costumes

2.      Extra tights should be brought with you incase of an accident

3.      If you need to replace tights let the desk know 2 weeks prior not the day before.

C.     Shoes – tap, jazz, and ballet

D.    Hair accessories

E.     Hair pieces needed

III.             Make Up

A.    A container to keep it in


Finger nail polish remover

Clear finger nail polish for runs in tights

Hairbrush

Hair spray

Hair gel

Dark hair elastics NOT COLORED!

Bobby pins & hair Pins

Hairnets that match hair color

Red Lipstick

Foundation

Blush – to look natural

Eyeliner – black

All dancers must wear false eyelashes and glue

Eye shadow – light brown dark brown and a white

Safety pins

Thread and needle


IV.             Schedule of events

A.    Schedule is usually given to me 1 week in advance

B.     Competitions can run behind and ahead of schedule be prepared for both.  I have no control over the day

C.     Please remember that we are a small competition team.  If you can be at the competition early or stay a little later to support other members of the team they will appreciate it.

D.    All dancers must arrive 1 ½ hour prior to their scheduled time to dance

E.     Awards

1.      Dancers are expected to stay for the entire awards ceremony

2.      Awards can take a long time, it is polite to stay and clap for everyone.

3.      If friends come make sure they know they are staying till the end.

4.      All dancers must stay for awards – if a dancer leaves they can not have their ribbon or trophy

5.      Soloists receive their own awards

6.      Groups will take turns

7.      Dancers should wear Dance Inspirations attire for awards - no jeans or gum allowed!

V.                I need a copy of everyone’s birth certificate

VI.             To Make the day go smoother

A.    Have hair and makeup done before you arrive – Hair needs to be smooth with no wispies, and they need lots of make-up on.

B.     Do not wear costumes to competition change when you arrive and change after dancing – remember we can not get new costumes.

 

C.     Dancers need arrive 1 ½ before performing and ready to dance 1 hour prior to competition so teachers may review dances.

D.    Take the time before competition to go through costumes to sew where pins are holding fabrics together – this will help speed up the changing process.

E.     Put costumes on individual hangers, and in a garmet bag.

F.      Keep hair pieces and accessories in a container or zip lock bag and label so you know what pieces you have and what is missing when you go to leave

G.    Have the dancers be responsible for their costumes and accessories – that way they can check each other

F.      Make a list of what you need for each dance so the dancers will know what they need

H.    Dancers need to work as a team; we should all sit together when possible.
